Framework is blessed with thousands of supporters who, in many different ways, show their belief in the value of our work.
They are of all ages and backgrounds – as our recent celebration of youthful commitment, the Young Supporters’ Awards, showed. Sadly they are usually too numerous to identify individually but this in no way diminishes our appreciation.
However once in a while someone steps up (in this case literally) as an exemplar of the spirit of this hidden community of well wishers and their commitment and achievement compel recognition.
Today, Southwell musician and longstanding Framework supporter Guy Turner sets out on a long-planned walk of more than 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise funds for four very worthwhile causes including Framework.
Such charitable enterprise deserves a fair wind and, having set an initial fundraising target of £10,000, Guy begins his walk not only with a south-westerly at his back but in the encouraging knowledge that support has already overtopped that target by some margin.
As Guy sets forth for the north, his fundraising total stands at £11,410.10 including Gift Aid, of which no less than £4,616.75 is in support of Framework.
By the time of his scheduled arrival in the far north of Scotland in 76 days’ time on Monday 10 October, he will also have enjoyed the moral and practical support of many friends and well wishers who are sharing parts of the journey with him or offering hospitality.
You can find out all about Guy’s fundraising epic journey on his dedicated website where you will discover his route should you wish to join him, can keep informed of his progress by signing up to his blog and, most important of all, support his remarkable effort.
We always welcome people with fundraising ideas – and they don’t have to be as spectacular as Guy’s initiative! Please visit the fundraising pages on our website to find out how you can get involved – either as an individual, a community group or a business.
Best wishes Guy – and very many thanks!
