Framework is delighted to announce that the Volunteer Pathway Programme has returned. This 12‑week development programme supports volunteers who want to grow their skills, build confidence and take steps toward paid employment in the support sector.
With four successful cohorts completed so far, and almost half of participants moving into paid roles, the programme has become one of our most impactful routes into employment.
About the Programme
The Volunteer Pathway Programme offers a structured introduction to working in the support sector. Over 12 weeks, volunteers explore what frontline roles involve, learn how to handle challenging situations, and gain insight into supporting people with complex needs.
Alongside this, the programme provides practical employability support. Participants work on their CVs, build job‑application skills and take part in interview preparation, helping them feel ready for future opportunities within Framework or beyond.
This balanced approach that combines practical learning, reflective development and confidence‑building ensures volunteers receive meaningful support as they work toward their goals.
Chris, a previous participant on the pathway, said:
“I volunteered for Framework mainly in the hope it would give me a reason to get out of my room for a day of the week to do something worthwhile. I hadn’t expected that to help me get back on my feet quite a profoundly as it did.
It was an absolute privilege meeting the Framework personnel and my fellow volunteers on the Pathway. They helped build the confidence and knowledge I needed to get a job I could only have dreamed of a year ago.”
Chris is now working with Framework as a Support Planner!
Who Can Apply?
The programme is open to:
current Framework volunteers
individuals who have completed their volunteer interview but haven’t yet started a placement
people who have previously applied for paid roles but would benefit from more confidence or experience
If someone is eager to learn, motivated and interested in a career in the support sector, this programme offers a strong foundation.
Why Volunteering Matters
Framework’s volunteering community is built on flexibility, personalised support and real opportunities for growth. Kay, who has volunteered with Framework for an incredible 16 years, describes her experience:
“Volunteering has helped me feel valued. I’ve gained confidence, understanding, and experience I never expected. From the very beginning, Framework asked not what I needed, but how they could help me, and that respect has kept me here.”
“Framework treats everyone as an individual and places you where your skills fit. It’s flexible, supportive, and a chance to gain experience while helping people who really need it. You learn so much just by giving your time.”

Her words reflect what many volunteers value: support, stability and a clear pathway into paid work.
The Volunteer Pathway Programme is just one of the ways Framework invests in the future of our volunteers. Learn more about our volunteering opportunities here. We look forward to welcoming our next group of learners!
