Take Part in ‘One Step at a Time’: A Recovery Walk with Inclusive Recovery Cities – Sunday 18 May 2025

Framework is delighted to be part of ‘One Step at a Time’, a city-wide recovery walk that celebrates strength, resilience, and community spirit. Led by Inclusive Recovery Cities Nottingham and taking place on Sunday 18 May 2025, this uplifting event is open to everyone—whether you’re walking in support of someone in recovery, are on your own recovery journey, or simply believe in the power of community and second chances.

The event will see two groups of walkers—one setting off from the North of Nottingham and one from the South—converge at the beautiful Arboretum Park (NG7 4HF) in the heart of the city. There, a celebratory gathering will bring together walkers, volunteers, supporters, and local organisations for an afternoon of live music, refreshments, and shared stories.

This isn’t just a walk—it’s a statement of solidarity. It’s a way to show that recovery is not only possible, but something to be honoured, supported, and shared.

Walking Together, From North and South

There are two routes to choose from, each offering a unique experience of walking through Nottingham while connecting with others.

The South Walk will begin at Clifton Library (NG11 8AB) at 10:00 AM. From there, walkers will pass collection points including Compton Acres Tram Stop, Wilford Toll Bridge and the Robin Hood Statue on Castle Road.

The North Walk also sets off at 10:00 AM, starting at the Bull Statue in Bulwell Market Place (NG6 8HD). This group will pass through collection points at Highbury Vale Tram Stop and St Peter’s Church before making their way to the central meeting point at the Arboretum.

Both walks are designed to be accessible and welcoming, and all participants will be warmly greeted as they arrive at the final destination.

A Celebration of Recovery and Community

Arriving at the Arboretum by around 1:00 PM, walkers will be treated to a relaxed afternoon in the park with music, refreshments, and the company of people who understand and support the recovery journey.

This part of the day is as important as the walk itself—a chance to pause, reflect, and connect with others in a supportive and stigma-free space. It’s also an opportunity to meet representatives from Framework and our partners, learn about local recovery services, and find out how you can get involved beyond the day itself.

Why Framework is Involved

At Framework, we work every day to support people affected by homelessness, substance use, mental health, and social exclusion. We know that recovery is not a straight line—and that it doesn’t happen in isolation. Events like ‘One Step at a Time’ are a powerful reminder that when individuals and communities come together, real change is possible.

By walking alongside those in recovery and standing together in public spaces, we break down stigma and offer a powerful message: no one walks alone.
