About
Our Family Mentors services, operating in the St Ann’s and Arboretum wards of Nottingham, supports parents, children and wider families to thrive in our communities.
The service employs local people with experience of parenting, who use their knowledge and parenting experiences to help local mums, dads, grandparents and others to raise their babies and toddlers.
Our mentors work with families to develop their children’s core skills in a way that is right for them, and provide a wide range of fun educational and developmental activities to help meet their needs.
Our aim is to create a new ‘peer workforce’ to work alongside parents and their families so that together we can improve outcomes in nutrition, language skills and the social and emotional development of children.
The service operates a wide range of activities in the community and also provides visiting home support.
The Family Mentor service is part of Small Steps Big Changes, which is funded through the National Lottery Community Fund’s A Better Start Programme.
