The Big Sleep In on Friday 4th December gives people of all ages – and especially youth groups the opportunity to hold an independent local Sleep In event in their own community, as part of a Nottinghamshire-wide network of groups acting together to think about homelessness on a single night.
We challenge you to give up your comfortable bed for one night and throw down your sleeping bag to hold an event as part of Framework’s Big Sleep In.
The Big Sleep In is supported by Trent FM and Emma and Twiggy – so register now to get your group a shout out!
A Sleep In is an occasion where individuals and groups are asked to spend a night together without their usual bed and associated comforts and raise sponsor money to support Framework in its work with local homeless and vulnerable people. Some use a local community venue, others have used their own home or garage for example – so get creative!
We ask that you remove all you can from your venue space to encourage you to think about what it might be like to be homeless and without your usual safety nets (but stay safe and make sure you have waterproofing if you are outdoors, and access to warmth and shelter in case of dire weather. Young people should always have onsite adult supervision). A DVD is supplied which can be played to remind people of local homelessness and the issues that local people face.
Those registering to take part will receive a participant’s pack, including a DVD to play on the night. Sleep In T-shirts / nightshirts are also available to support your Sleep In event: these are free to each person who has raised more than £50 in sponsor pledges by Friday 27th November.
