High Sheriff reflects on fundraising sleep out for homeless people
High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire Nick Ebbs is supporting Framework during his year in office. This Saturday night, 24th November, he – and his Under-Sheriff Deborah Hutchinson – will join more than 300 others to take part in Framework’s largest annual fundraising event – the Big Sleep Out: it is taking place for the first time at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground sponsored by Nottingham Building Society. Together Nick and Deborah have already raised nearly £3,000.
In this blog, Nick reflects on why he is taking part:
"My infamous medieval predecessor is best known for persecuting those in greatest need. I am pleased to have the opportunity to use my year in office to do precisely the opposite. I made a commitment at my inauguration to help homeless people across Nottinghamshire and this is a perfect opportunity to do just that.
“By taking part in the Big Sleep Out I hope not only to raise a considerable sum of money, but also to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness and the brilliant work that Framework do in our community.
“I know it will be cold and uncomfortable, but I also know that taking part in the Big Sleep Out will be a really rewarding experience – a chance to get together with like-minded people and learn more about the challenges of homelessness.”
