Youth homelessness on the agenda at 24-hour sofa push

Take one slightly modified sofa, a wacky idea, a whole 24 hours, and a whole load of determined young people… and what do you get?

Well, in Chesterfield last week we ended up with a truly inspirational fundraising event in aid of homeless young people.

SAFE, a Framework-led consortium proving accommodation and support for homeless young people across Derbyshire, has been campaigning to protect its vital funding for some time – efforts that have allowed it to continue its work in the near future.

Keen to keep the issue of youth homelessness on the public agenda, service users and staff came up with the idea of a 24 hour sofa push, which took place at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, on Thursday, October 8 to mark World Homeless Day.

As the name suggests. Teams of volunteers pushed the sofa around the edge of the park for 24 hours non-stop. You can learn more about their efforts by watching the following video.
