Supporters of homelessness charity Framework have raised an astonishing £14,000 during a single week of high-energy fundraising.

The charity, which supports thousands of people in the East Midlands, launched its annual Do it for Framework Week from Monday, June 26 – seven days of events and activities organised by supportive individuals, businesses, community groups and Framework itself.

Highlights included:

  • The support of Nottingham’s Tram Network NET who wore orange whilst at work and promoted the charity throughout the week.
  • A mock court trial “Jail and Bail” event featuring local business personalities
  • A six-a-side football tournament
  • Busking by soul musician Andrew Randell
  • An evening of orchestral music by the Nottingham Music Service
  • A charity gig
  • A sponsored horse ride
  • Baking competitions
  • A pub quiz
  • A homelessness walk
  • A paddle boarding challenge
  • Office collections and various other workplace fun and games.

People did it by donating or doing. They did it in Nottingham, Mansfield and Huthwaite, they did it in Lincoln, Boston, Scunthorpe and Sleaford, they did it in Newark, they did it in Sheffield and they even did it on the River Trent, raising a bundle of funds to help homeless people.

In Lincolnshire Emma Tansley who previously was supported by Framework did a two day pony trek and said:
“I completed my 20 mile horse ride (if not more) over the weekend. I am happy to announce I made £135. Thank you for letting me be part of your team to raise money to help others who helped me. Roll on next year!”

The week also included a supporter fundraising appeal that was match-funded by lead campaign partner The Nottingham Building Society, whose staff and customers also took part in several fundraising events.DIFF Week Match funding

David Marlow, Chief Executive of the Nottingham said:
“We’re always super-proud to support Framework’s fundraising efforts and this year is no different. I would like to thank all our staff and customers that donated bringing our own total to over £400!”

Chris Senior, Fundraising Manager at Framework, said:
“We have been very encouraged by the number of people “Doing It” in the communities where we work. Hundreds of people have been involved in doing a little, which in turn helps many who only have a little.

“To date we have raised £14,000 and the money is still coming in.  Every response – from cash donations to a sponsored sky dive, from a roller disco to a pub quiz – has helped and we are most grateful to every person who made this happen.”

The week of fundraising and planned events finished on July, 2nd. However The Do It For Framework appeal will be open until the start of August for any person who still hopes to contribute. The fundraising team are happy to support any queries or answer questions on 0115 970 9558 or fundraising@frameworkha.org. For more information visit www.frameworkha.org/DIFFdonate
