Office fundraisers celebrate £10,000 boost to homeless people
Employees from a Nottingham-based company took a trip down memory lane as they marked three years of fundraising for homeless and vulnerable people.
International business mobile messaging provider Esendex has now raised more than £10,000 for Framework. Staff have taken part in a wide range of fundraising activities, including sponsored runs, sleepouts, treks, bake sales and street collections.
Esendex has also used its professional expertise to provide a potentially life-saving SMS service that links our street outreach team and people sleeping rough – a link which has been used by more than 500 people so far.
Staff, led by intrepid CEO Geoff Love, who has very much led from the front in the company’s fundraising efforts, recreated some of their favourite moments of the last three years at a photo-call at the company’s UK HQ on Wollaton Street last week.
Mr Love, said: “We didn’t have a corporate charity and were keen to work with somebody local who was involved with a charity that we all felt strongly about. We’ve done everything here, from baking cakes and doing The Big Sleep-Out, to running half marathons and doing hikes across the Peak District. I’ve even stood in the stocks and had wet sponges and eggs thrown at me by my own staff!
“We’ve done all of those traditional fundraising things and really enjoyed them, but I am especially proud of the non-traditional activities we have undertaken such as using our expertise to make a direct contribution to Framework’s activities. Our involvement has brought staff together from across Esendex, helping us to bond as a team. At the same time, we’ve had a huge amount of fun!”
Louise Darby, Fundraising and Communications Manager, at Framework, added: “Esendex is a fantastic example of how relationships between businesses and charities can be about far more than a short term fundraiser. Working together we can go far beyond the giving and receiving of money, and create partnerships that really help us to meet our objectives.
"The impact of the Esendex/Framework partnership can be measured beyond pounds and pence. Most significantly it can be measured in the lives of the men and women we have been able to support because of Esendex’s help.”
