Framework and Lincolnshire Businesses officially launch The Gift Tree

04 Dec 2015

Framework have teamed up with Waterside Shopping Centre and Lincs FM to ensure that homeless people across Lincolnshire don’t feel forgotten this Christmas by asking the community to take part in The Gift Tree.

With the help of Fillingham Christmas Trees we have set up nine trees in the Lower Mall, each sponsored by a local business, and hung a gift tag from each with the details of everyone it is supporting.

Framework is inviting shoppers to buy a gift for someone facing Christmas homeless and alone by taking a tag from a tree, purchase an appropriate gift and package it with a personalised Chrismas message of support.

The Gift Tree officially launched Thursday, December 3 where Lincolnshire Paratriathete Mark Conway and tree sponsors joined us to celebrate the opening of the event.

Framework providesaccommodation for 160 homeless people across the county, and is hoping to raise a total of £7,000 to provide a Christmas lunch for all its residents and support its work over the coming year.  £3,000 of that has already been met by eight tree sponsors: Ringrose Law, Running Imp, Robert Woodhead Ltd, The Nottingham Building Society, Lava PR, Education Business Partnership, Lincs FM and the Lincoln Women’s Institute.

Sarah Cross, Fundraising Development Officer for Framework stated “Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time of year for people who are homeless as it places their situation into very sharp focus. We know that our residents often feel alone and forgotten at this time of year, which is why we came up with this innovative initiative.

“We’re thrilled to have the support from some of Lincolnshire’s top businesses, but now we are turning the wider community for help. People often ask us what they can do to help at Christmas time, so this year we have given them something they can do alongside their Christmas shopping.”

Sarah Wallace, The Nottingham Building Society said “We’re delighted to be involved in Framework’s Gift Tree initiative. We have worked with the charity for almost five years now and during that time have contributed thousands in fundraising and voluntary support through the society’s ‘Doing Good Together’ initiative including gifting at Christmas so it’s a real privilege to be part of this fantastic scheme in Lincoln”

John Knight, Director for Ringrose Law, said “As part of our on-going support of locally based charities, Ringrose Law are really proud to be able to support Framework and its Gift Tree Festival in Lincoln. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”

Chantelle Henderson, Marketing Manager for Waterside Shopping, said: “Framework has been a fantastic charity partner for the centre, and we couldn’t be happier about them helping to make the centre even more festive this December!

“The Christmas trees all look fabulous, and I think young and old alike will really enjoy strolling the centre to have a look at them while getting their Christmas shopping done!”
