Lincoln’s premier shopping destination – Waterside Shopping – has selected Framework as its 2015 Charity Partner of the Year.

As part of the partnership, Waterside will host and support several of Framework’s events and initiatives throughout 2015, including:

Do It For Framework Day – 22nd May

Framework’s annual orange fundraiser where people in the community are asked to organise fundraising activities around a theme of orange. Framework will set-up in Waterside on the day and encourage shopping centre staff to wear orange to support the day.

Harvest Event – w/c 28th September

An opportunity to celebrate harvest festival by visiting Framework’s designated drop-off zone for food and monetary donations. Local schools will also get involved with this activity by creating harvest-related artwork, poems, stories etc. which will be displayed in the Waterside.

Framework’s Big Sleep-In – 10th October

A sponsored fundraising event where participants sleep inside Waterside Shopping for one night. Participants will ‘camp out’ in the downstairs area of the shopping centre, while enjoying a range of entertainment and activities until the lights go out.

World Homelessness Day – 10th October

Framework will run an awareness-raising stall with myth-busting activities about homelessness. During the day, customers will be educated about homelessness in the Lincolnshire area and what services already exist to help those living rough locally.

Christmas Tree Festival – 3rd-23rd December

An event where local businesses and community groups will be asked to sponsor a Christmas tree, which will then be displayed in the Waterside throughout December. A launch event is planned for 3rd December to encourage press, public and sponsor engagement. A series of activities from tree sponsors and Framework will also be run alongside the festival to raise funds and awareness.

Chantelle Henderson, Marketing Coordinator at Waterside Shopping, said: “Each year, we select a local charity that plays a meaningful role in Lincoln, and, this year, Framework stood out from all the rest.

“Homelessness is a major issue throughout the UK, as well as in Lincoln, that devastates lives and communities, so Waterside hopes to help Framework raise awareness of the topic throughout 2015. We’re really excited to help and are looking forward to hosting the fantastic events they have planned for later this year!”

Sarah Cross, Framework's Lincolnshire Fundraising Coordinator, said: "Waterside receives hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, making it one of Lincoln’s most well-known destinations. We’re confident that working in partnership with their team will not only provide us with a central location in the city for our events, but help spread the message we want to share with people – which is that homelessness is often an invisible issue and is something important to keep at the top of people’s consciousness, so we can secure the funds needed to change and save lives.”
